I am married to my high school sweetheart and together we have 4 amazing children. JC and I have both become passionate about a more natural, or as I like to call it old fashioned, way of living. The realization that it isn’t just the food we eat but also the products we use that affect our health has had a huge impact on my family. We love essential oils, we raise rabbits and have a small urban homestead. The patch of land we call ours might be little, but we try to use as much of it as possible to provide for our family as naturally as possible.

I remember being asked at a Bible Study group one night, “Who are you outside of being a Mom?” At the time I had completely lost sight of who I was, who I had hoped to be, I had lost the ability to dream. I was “just” a Mom, trying to get my footing back after finding out that a back injury would mean my husband was going to be retired from the military. In the midst of feeling like all our plans were going up in smoke, God relit a fire in me. Slowly, I started feeling like I had a purpose outside of “just” being Mommy.

It is our family’s goal to teach others in our community how to be the stewards of the land that God intended us to be, while working towards living more sustainably. I have been there, standing in the aisles of the grocery store, un-able to afford the food we needed. We have had to go out to the garden more times than I can remember to see what we could put together for dinner since we didn’t have money to buy something from the store. We want to share those lessons with families in need closest to us. I hope this blog will serve as a way to share what we have learned with you also, no matter where you live. I hope it leaves you feeling encouraged and empowered, with a community of other Mommas cheering you on in whatever you are facing.
